Meet the Steiners

The Steiner family—Phillip, Sally, and their children Ollie, James, and Francie—share a deep passion for horses and sport. With decades of combined experience in showjumping and equestrian life, they are dedicated to excellence both in and out of the ring, fostering a strong family legacy grounded in hard work, horsemanship, and heart.

PHILLIP STEINER

 Phillip is an internationally accomplished showjumper who has represented New Zealand several times. Phillip spent his younger years gaining knowledge and experience in America and Europe. In more recent years he partnered his beloved Cassino Dior - a partnership of a lifetime. They placed 30th at Omaha world cup final and were Olympic qualified.

SALLY STEINER

Sally is a highly accomplished showjumper. Sally won the 2003/04 New Zealand world cup series, she was shortlisted for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She has competed for New Zealand several times over her career across the international stage and won internationally in individual competitions. In recent times, Sally has dedicated to rasising her three children and is now developing her team of young horses. 

JAMES STEINER

James first competed as a seven year old, needless to say hes been hooked on horses his whole life, James progressed through the pony classes in New Zealand and was most recently very successful in the pony G.P classes and the North Island champion. James recently has a very exciting opportunity to work with Oliver Lazarus in Volkensward.

OLIVER STEINER

Oliver has been around horses since he was born. He followed James' footsteps and first competed at seven years old. Oliver has ventured out of the horses and is the 'multi-sport' member of the family. Using the skills and experience from riding, Oliver is particularly interested in mountain biking and canoe slalom but still remain keen on riding horses and ponies. 

FRANCIE STEINER

Francie has been around horses my whole life. Francie recently started with showjumping and loves going to pony club and show hunter. Francie recently competed at my first agriculture show where she was champion hunter with my amazing pony, Barbie.
